Who’s Leading This Year’s Conference?
This year’s proceedings will be chaired by:
Sara Gelgor, Chief Compliance Officer, Concentra Bank
Sara is an experienced board director and financial services executive. Sara has served as a board member of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, including Toronto Hydro and the University of Toronto Governing Council Business Board, and has been named to the Diversity 50 by the Canadian Board Diversity Council. She successfully completed the Rotman Directors Education Program and holds the ICD.D designation. Sara is a member of Governance Professionals Canada and is a faculty member of the GPC.D program, having collaborated in the design and launch of the designation program.
Sara has held senior leadership roles in the financial services sector and is currently the Chief Compliance Officer at Concentra Bank. She previously oversaw regulatory compliance risk for wealth management and retail banking at HSBC Bank and has been Chief Compliance Officer for a Canadian insurer. Sara has helped shape public policy through material contributions as a committee member at the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association, the Canadian Association of Financial Institutions in Insurance, and the Canadian Bankers Association.
Sara obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto and attended Queen’s University for Law School. She is a lawyer and holds a master’s degree in International Law from Cambridge University and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. She completed the Osgoode Hall Law School Certificate in Legal & Regulatory Risk Management for Financial Institutions and has been a faculty member of the certificate program since 2013. She is a frequent speaker at conferences, including the Northwind Financial Services Invitational Forum, and is a past lecturer at the Rotman School of Management and Queen’s Law School.
Lisa Cinelli, Vice President, CCO and CAMLO, Equitable Bank
Lisa Cinelli currently serves as VP, CCO and CAMLO for Equitable Bank, a Canadian bank which primarily provides residential and commercial real estate lending services, as well as personal banking through its direct banking brand EQ Bank.
As part of EQ, she leads a team of Compliance and anti-money laundering/anti-terrorist financing (AML/ATF) professionals and is responsible for implementing and overseeing Equitable Bank’s programs as they relate to regulatory compliance management, AML/ATF, privacy and data protection, consumer related provisions, including complaints, and whistle blower issues.
Previously, Lisa served as Vice President, Global AML, Canadian Banking & North American Direct Channels for TD Bank, where she led a team of AML professionals responsible for providing anti-money laundering, anti-terrorist financial and sanctions programs advice and guidance to the Canadian Banking and North American Direct Channels businesses at TD Bank. As part of this role, she provided advice, guidance, oversight, and expertise on regulatory requirements and assisted the businesses in managing their regulatory and compliance risks.
Lisa holds a BA from the University of Toronto’s University of Saint Michael’s College and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School.
Danielle Lin, Vice President, Canadian Banking & Consumer Legislation Compliance, TD Bank Group
Danielle Lin is currently Vice President, Canadian Banking & Auto Finance (CBA) Compliance at TD Bank Group. She is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the CBA Compliance program. She leads a team of Compliance professionals responsible for day-to-day business compliance support, particularly around governance, policies, oversight, and independent/objective guidance. In her prior role at TD, Danielle was responsible for the strategic direction, development, and implementation of a first in class Corporate Office Compliance Program.
Danielle has significant experience working with several large Canadian banks; her compliance expertise includes direct channels (telephone banking, ABM, online and mobile banking), along with retail banking products and branch channel. Danielle is a Chartered Accountant, with over 25 years of banking experience, of which over 12 years were spent in Compliance and the balance in Risk Management, Internal Audit and Finance. She also has expertise in Retail Banking, Capital Markets, and Corporate Office.
